wonderful resources

Each year I "gather" a number of wonderful resources, only to have so many that I lose them in the pile. I want to write about them here, so I remember. Guesthollow.com has a wonderful gathered section on American History that is just how I homeschool and has wonderful links. I will be referencing them all year. Today I ran across a wonderful site for American History....the Plimoth Plantation museum site : plimoth.org   It has wonderful resources for the kids and (loved this!!!!) short bios of many of the settlers who settled in the first 10 years. I recognized two of the names...as being my ancestors! Loved that. Loved that I actually recognized their names. Another favorite site is http://www.first-school.ws/INDEX.HTM
where I go for all my worksheets for Chaz. The other day I discovered http://www.bookofmormondiscovery.com/index.html only to find out that Tamara and Autumn discovered it long ago and told me about it LOL I guess the timing had to be right.

The Bible

President Boyd K. Packer, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, shares a story about viewing a centuries-old family Bible and finding a quote on the title page that said, “The fairest Impression of the Bible is to have it well printed on the Reader’s heart.” He follows with this scripture (2 Cor. 3:2-3): “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in the tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart.”

studying the gospel

“No one knows anything about Christ’s work simply by being born a member of the Church, and often he knows little about it after years of unmotivated exposure in meetings or classes. He must learn. And learning involves self-investment and effort. The gospel should be studied ‘as carefully as any science.’ The ‘literature of the Church’ must be ‘acquired and read.’ Our learning should be increased in our spare time ‘day by day.’ Then as we put the gospel truth to work in daily life, we will never find it wanting. We will be literate in the most important field of knowledge in the universe, knowledge for lack of which men and nations perish, in the light of which men and nations may be saved”—Elder Marion D. Hanks, First Council of the Seventy, “Theological Illiterates”, Improvement Era (September 1969): 42

Blessed

"Let us be no more tossed to and fro by every worldly wind and doctrine of man (see Ephesians 4:14). We declare to the world that the heavens are open and the truth of God's eternal plan has again been made known to mankind. We live in the dispensation of the fulness of times. We live in a day when we have the witness through the scriptures of the great plan the Lord has given to His children from the beginning of time down to this present and last dispensation. The evidence is well documented; we are not left alone to wander through mortality without knowing of the master plan which the Lord has designed for His children. He has bound Himself by solemn covenant to give us the blessings of heaven according to our obedience to His law. Oh, remember, remember that these things are true, for the Lord God has revealed these eternal truths unto us."

Friday

Trying to put it all together.
Have known what the questions were and the answers, so frustrating not to just "Do It"
This will be my check list to go down every morning.
